What finishes or sheen of paint should be used?

-- Most all of the Farrell Calhoun Paints we use are low VOC, and are safe for the environments in and around your home. 

-- In most cases its up to the desired look, washability, or quick touch up.

  • DEAD FLAT - Is made for ceilings for a flawless finish with no flashing and zero sheen.

  • FLAT- Is great for hiding wall irregularities and easy to retouch and easy to clean in most cases.

  • EGGSHELL - Low sheen flawless finish. Is great for smooth clean surfaces, very easy to clean with soap. Always good to repaint newly built homes from the chalky contractor flat used on walls.

  • EGGSHELL ULTRA - Super Premium durability and soft low sheen. Use for high traffic areas, washable, and it’s the most stain and scuff resistant eggshell product.

  • SATIN - Is great for bathrooms, business spaces, walls that need to be cleaned a lot. Most Exterior surfaces

  • SEMI-GLOSS - Is the standard for trim and cabinets. It creates a beautiful lower sheen than gloss but is durable and easily cleaned with soap.

  • GLOSS - Used where a super shine is desired. Best on clean smooth surfaces and Exterior surfaces.

What is the best trim paint product to use?

-- Today we have the best new technology in latex paints.

The waterborne Acrylic Alkyd Hybrid Semi Gloss paint is one of the best!  It has similar properties as an oil base paint. It lays flat to eliminate brush strokes, and hardens for a very strong protective coat.

The new ENAMELEX Acrylic/Polyurethane Bonding Enamel is the next generation bonding enamel that has been formulated for exceptional adhesion and hardness. This product is for the toughest factory finish you can get for any surface trim or walls or exterior doors and metal trim.

How long do jobs usually take?

Most jobs are done within 3 to 7 days average. It really depends on the project, prep and weather conditions. There is usually an estimate on how long a job may take. 

How long does it take for paint to cure?

Most all professional paints are prepared for testing by manufacturers after 2 weeks to 20 days. The best time to wash the paint is around two weeks for final hardness and guaranteed durability. Right after any trim or wall has dried you must be cautious of its softness till then.

What if I change my mind once paint has been purchased/applied to surface?

If a color as been chosen, applied and/or purchased already - The client must pay for new paint and the labor for recoating the area.
